About T.R. Miller High School

Thomas Richard Miller High School is a public high school in Brewton, Alabama educating students in grades 9-12. The school was named after a local Brewtonian and a member of a timber family that financially contributed to the construction of the school building. The school mascot is the T.R. Miller Tiger.

The current location, off Douglas Avenue and Rotch Boulevard, was opened in 1962 after moving from the previous home across the street from the Brewton Elementary school located less than a mile south. The school consisted of three wings, a lunch room, a gym, and an office area. The school was expanded to include a fourth wing, dedicated to science classes in 1994. Recent additions include an auditorium (built in 1998), a field house for the football program (completed in 2001), a new gym (completed in 2002), and a new practice field, concession stands, and track (2011).

Starting in 2013, the Brewton City Board approved the demolishing of the original 3 wings and cafeteria of the school to be replaced by new, updated buildings. T.R. Miller iHigh School went through a multi-year project that included building a new wing with a new cafeteria and 16 classrooms that was completed in 2014. In 2015, a second wing was completed that included a new library, offices and additional classrooms. Additional parking was also created and the band practice field was re-sodded and improved with a sprinkler system. The 2015 school year also saw the renovation of the baseball field and home stadium bleachers. In 2019, T.R. Miller built new tennis courts and in 2020, the school began renovating the girls weight room and the football field house. In the 2021-2022 school year, a new softball complex was started adjacent to the tennis courts.
